stress awareness month!

Have you been struggling with stress and anxiety during 2021?

Let's face it, so far 2021 has been a real challenge, and think we have all suffered in one form or another. I for one certainly have been - there are so many elements that trigger stress and anxiety. Money, mental health, the impacts of Covid, physical health, family, job/career - the list just goes on.⠀

As April is Stress Awareness Month I would love to hear your coping mechanisms. It has taken me nearly half a century to figure out mine but I predominantly have two ways to reset myself when I find myself in a negative slump. I am in no way an expert on this but simply trying to ascertain to help my mind remain in a healthy state.

The first being Nature!

As you know it is a huge part of my inspiration but so much more than that. Just a simple walk in the countryside helps me on so many levels but mainly makes me regain some perspective and formulate a plan to move forward in a more positive way for the day ahead.

I am lucky to live in a rural Devon location and be able to step outside and utilise the beautiful Devon lanes. As soon as I do I immediately start to gain some control over the anxious thoughts. Hearing the bird song, feeling the wind, seeing wildlife, and sometimes being in the sun all helps to hit my reset button.

My second fix is Creativity.

My little business is a way for me to remain creative each and every day which helps me to maintain wellbeing and balance in my mind. Without it, I really would go stir crazy. Generally, creativity has always been a part of my life in some form or another but not in an earning capacity. This soon became apparent a few years ago when I was working in a job that wasn't particularly creative. To try and compensate I would do a little artwork most evenings but slowly lost interest in the traditional canvas & paint method so gradually let it go. A few months down the line I began to realise this was detrimental to my mental health and wellbeing. I didn't understand this key element was to keep me sain and grounded. It was at this point I promised myself I would begin to create my own business. I had no idea what this would be but just knew it had to happen - but that's a blog post for another day.

I do have a few other ways such as yoga and meditation but don't do these are often as I want to, ideally, it would be a daily routine but not always feasible because life just happens and I can't do everything.

There are so many wellbeing opportunities available many of which I have not tried. For example just this last year I have met two hypnotherapists but not taken part. as yet

What are your coping mechanisms or perhaps you are someone that could help with stress , I would love to hear about it?
